I don't think that's how it works. I got all the basic clothing from my parents, but if I wanted something more fancy, then I had to pay for it myself... I think I would stick to that if I had children: Buy the basic stuff and let them pay for more fancy things... And you know why I buy expensive Jeans? They are always the same size. You buy one today or in 10 years and if you buy the same size, it is the same size. I don't even bother trying them in the shop or I buy the same Jeans again online. With cheap Jeans, they have not a very well controlled manufacturing process and the sizes always change. You just need to try every individual Jeans to make sure that they fit. And I'm not in for that. After my old brand stopped manufacturing my model, I switched to Levi's 501 now. That's an all time classic and I hope they will never stop producing it until I die... I just wish that Levi's was more clear about the environmental and social impact of their manufacturing process. It seems that it's quite okay, but there's no real evidence to support that. For the price that a Jeans costs, it should be absolutely doable to pay everyone in the supply chain and manufacturing a reasonable wage with at least acceptable working conditions. And it should also be possible to keep environmental pollution to a minimum (e.g. not pour old dye into open waters, etc.)...
